Samuel Burroughs, of Cranston, Rhode Island, was arrested Thursday, Jan. 3 around 4:45 p.m., on Garden Drive in Fairfield, said Fairfield Police Lt. Robert Kalamaras.
Burroughs was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation by the department's Detective Bureau, said Kalamaras.
He was caught with the drugs during a traffic stop where police uncovered more than three pounds of pot, he added.
Burroughs was charged with possession of a controlled substance more than a half-ounce of cannabis, the sale of more than IKg of cannabis, and possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school.
He was taken into custody without incident and released on $10,000 bond. Burroughs is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 14.
